Pledge to Care Leavers
The University aims to make an offer to any care leaver who
meets the minimum entry requirements for the course to which
they have applied, where this is possible.
If you have indicated on your UCAS application that you have been in care, the relevant admissions office will contact you to ask whether you wish your application to be considered under the terms of the pledge.
In order for your care leaver status to be taken into account when your application is considered, you will be asked to provide evidence that you meet the definition of a care leaver. This will be in the form of a letter from your social worker or head teacher.
If you do not meet our definition of a care leaver, or if you do not wish to have your application considered under the terms of the pledge, your application will still be considered through our normal processes.
On the basis of the information you have supplied, you would be eligible for a Plus Flag. Where an application with a Plus Flag meets or is predicted to meet all minimum entry requirements, then wherever possible, an offer is made based on the minimum requirements.

Plus flag applications, in the majority of cases, will be made an offer at the minimum entry requirement. If a degree has an interview, test or portfolio requirement you will be guaranteed progression to that stage of the admissions process.

If you are assigned a Flag you’ll be prioritised for a place in degree programmes where competition for places is high, but it’ll be at the standard entry requirement, rather than the minimum.

On the basis of the information you have supplied, you would be eligible for the EDU Flag. Where an application with an EDU Flag has achieved, or is predicted to achieve, at the typical entry requirements for a degree programme, then wherever possible, an offer will be made at that level
